Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place…” So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, except for curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.
(Mark 6:4-6)
You gave us free will, Lord, and much as you shower your grace on us and draw us toward you, you do not force us to believe. Faith is a gift, but one for which we can search and pray. Unless we believe and act on that belief, we will hold ourselves back, and your mighty deeds will not reach us. “Lord, I do believe. Help my unbelief.” The more I let go, the more you can strengthen my faith. My Jesus, I trust in you.
