Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves, each looking out not for his own interests, but also for those of others.
(Philippians 2:3-4)

Lord, when we look out for the needs of others, we are looking out for ourselves, for we are one. If I am angry, I do not hurt the one who injured me, but myself. If I smile, even if that smile is not returned, I feel better. If I cry with another, I comfort myself as well. If someone does me a favor, I am grateful, but so often I feel as though I have to repay it. Help me to remember that it is a kindness to accept. There is no way to measure; there is no competition in love. So often I say, “We are all in this together.” Help me to live accordingly.
