I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.
(John 15:5)

Here I am, Lord. I come to do your will. Let me never be separated from the vine that is you. No matter where this little shoot travels, it is part of you. Whether I climb upward or outward, my life is from you. Anything I do, you allow me to do. It is your energy that flows through me, your will that sustains me. If I were not connected to you, I would wither and die. Only your mercy can heal and renew me.

How can I thank you, oh Father, the vine keeper, for uniting me with your love? How can I thank you, Son, for allowing me to be grafted on to you? How can I thank you, Spirit, for guiding and nourishing me? Let me see only you, my God. Close my eyes and ears to whatever is not you – to weeds of temptation and distraction. Let me know nothing except that I belong to you. Take me.
