Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves.
This time, Lord, it is Philip who asks, “Show us the Father.” Once again, you assert your divinity. The mystery of the Trinity is beyond our comprehension, but you show us that while there are three Persons in one God, these persons work in unison. It is the Son who speaks to us in the Gospel, but the Word is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You are distinct and yet inseparable. Thank you for making this clear to us, who cannot understand but still can know.
You repeat, “Yahweh – I Am” so often. “I am the good shepherd. I am the way. I am in the Father.”
You Who Are created us and love us. You will not lose us, even if we lose ourselves. The more I know what I am not, the more I know who you are. To find you, I must disappear. Lord, let me forget myself and remember you. Thy will be done.
