Thomas said to him, “Master we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Thank you, Lord, for Thomas who, like me, wanted so desperately to know, see and follow you, and yet couldn’t believe without understanding. He always asks for clarification and proof.
I, too, love logic, and yet I know that life is not logical. As I pray in the “Suscipe,” take my intellect and give me instead the faith to follow you blindly. Yet I am not blind, for you have told us that you, yourself, are the way. I might not see the path on which you have placed me or know where it leads, but I do not need to follow you with my senses. I need to know you in my heart. Please help me to let go, to trust you, to lose myself in you.
Thank you for your many blessings today. Please lead Aunt Loie into your light. Help the residents of Baltimore to dialog instead of destroying, and come to the aid of those suffering from the earthquake. Teach us all to trust you, Lord. Thy will be done.
