Fall into Winter

Fall into winter,
Life into death,
We commemorate,
Commiserate,
Reflect, elect,
Celebrate,
Give thanks.

Like leaves in greatest splendor
Before they wither and die
Hinting of beauty yet to be
We begin with those who have gone on,
All saints, all souls.

As citizens of God and country
We vote
And pray.

We show respect
For those who fought our battles
And fight them still today,
Honoring their service
Even if we cannot honor their war.

We come home
To family
To feast together
To give thanks
To mend and renew
To bond
To look back with gratitude
And forward with hope.

This November.
