The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests who were present … he had John beheaded in prison.
Lord, you are here. You know my heart, my will, my intentions, my temptations and my distractions. Please help me not to give in to human respect. We all want to be liked and accepted by our peers, and even more by those we consider popular and successful. How easy it can be to go along despite the distress we feel. That distress is your grace warning us. If we remember who we are and who you are, you will give us courage. I pray to live always in your Presence. Save me from myself!
