KAUFMAN – Lois (Wendel), 85, Westmont, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center. Born June 8, 1929, in Ferndale, daughter of W.O. Wendel and Rachael (DeArmey) Wendel. Preceded in death by her parents; longtime companion, William Stackhouse; daughter, Lori Bearjar; four brothers; and three sisters. Survived by children, Jean Ann, married to Jim Bruce, Johnstown; and Tod Kaufman, Plant City, Fla.; grandchildren, Daniel Bruce, and partner, Kristin Hildrebrand; Lydia (Bruce), married to Shane Lloyd; J.P. Bruce, and partner, Lauren Kessylak; Peter Bearjar; Perry Kaufman, married to Theresa Vogel; Theresa (Kaufman), married to Joshua Britt; and Christopher Kaufman; and sister, Audrey Sedei, Salix. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. At the request of Lois and her family, there will be no visitation and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. BROADWAY, VA. — WENDEL – Tod William “Bill,” 70, Broadway, Va., died Oct. 26, 2010. Survived by wife of 15 years, Marilyn. Born Feb. 14, 1940, in Latrobe, and grew up in Johnstown, son of the late Tod R. Wendel and June Adams Wendel. Brother of Lois “Babe” Wendel Guthrie, James Wendel (Jane) and Daniel Wendel (Celia). Bill married S. Antoinette “Toni” Dabbs on June 18, 1960, in Johnstown. Together they had five children: Cynthia A. (Mark) Seltner, Victoria M. Wendel, Kimberly S. (Jeffrey) Geerling, Michael Tod (Lauri) Wendel; and Jacqueline G. Wendel. Grandpa to Matthew Tod Wendel, Heather M. Wendel, Mikaela C. Wendel, Seth M. Wendel, Wade A. Polster, Shawn M. Seltner and Joshua Tod Seltner. Bill was loved and will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws, also by friends and neighbors that were very special to him. He served in the U.S. Navy. A proud member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. He had a beautiful, deep, bass voice. He performed with his chorus at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia and in community theaters. Throughout the years, he was a member of several Barbershop Quartets. Bill valued the experience and the friendships he made during the years singing with the guys. Mr. Wendel retired from Airline Reporting Operations a few years ago. Upon retiring, Bill remained very active. An avid reel-to-reel recorder operator for years, he made many audiotapes of family and friends that continue to provide hours of enjoyment and are a treasure to his family. ’Til we meet again. Memorial service was held Friday, Nov. 5, in Broadway, Va.

Kathryn, wife of David Horvath, Tire Hill; and Paulette Tamm, Johnstown; also grandchildren, Adrienne Hovrath and Amanda Tamm; mother-in-law, Ethel N. McNutt, Hollsopple R.D. 2; stepchildren, Doris (Carlson), wife of Richard Beegle, Richland; John Paul Carlson, married to Mary Jeanne Varin, Providence, R.I.; Faye (Carlson), wife of Rick Patrick, Mechanicsburg, and Robert Bush, Altoona; seven stepgrandchildren. Brother of Dorothy Beegle, Johnstown; Audrey Sedi, Salix; and Lois Kaufman, Johnstown. Attended Hopewell United Methodist Church. Army Veteran of World War II. Born Dec. 16, 1925, in Jenner Township, Somerset County, daughter of John P. and Ethel N. (Shaffer) McNutt. Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Gibson F. Carlson, in 1982; second husband, Donald P. Wendel, in 1992; sister, Doris Jean Yoder; and brothers-in-law, Bill E. Yoder and Frederick C. Miller.
